We want to provide the healthiest options possible without compromising on taste. Therefore we consider health aspects early on in the product development process.
For example, we reduced the amount of sugar in our salsas, developed coconut milk with less fat, and have replaced palm oil with other oils, such as rapeseed and sunflower oil, in all Santa Maria branded products. Read more about our work on replacing palm oil. We are also working to reduce the amount of salt in our products without compromising on taste.
It is no secret that what we eat has a major impact on how we feel. Type 2 diabetes is becoming increasingly common in the western world, and research has shown that diet is an important factor in reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes and a condition called the metabolic syndrome. Santa Maria supports and cooperates with the Antidiabetic Food Centre at Lund University, Sweden and in this way is contributing to the development of antidiabetic food concepts, in other words, foods that can prevent the metabolic syndrome and also enhance memory.
