A packet of coocnut milk and some coconut on a cutting board

Our little coconut school

Tastier food and better climate

Now the good tastes even better. We have scrapped the tin cans in favor of Tetra packages. We have also added even more coconut to our coconut milk, for fuller taste. Here we have gathered lots of useful facts about coconut milk, as well as smart tips and tricks.

What is coconut milk?

Coconut milk is produced by squeezing the white coconut pulp from ripe nuts to get a nice and tasty liquid called coconut extract. The coconut extract is then mixed with water to get exactly the right texture and fat content. The more fat, the creamier coconut milk.

Coconut palm trees grows in tropical regions around the world. Our coconut milk is made from freshly harvested coconuts in Sri Lanka. Here the nuts have a wonderfully full and slightly sweet taste. Just as we want them.

Better for you & the environment

The can can is scrapped! With climate smarter Tetra pack, we save 220 tonnes of metal a year and reduce our C02 impact from the packaging by as much as 81% *. But there is more: the coconut milk has become better too! We have
added even more coconut, which gives a little higher fat content, creamier texture and more flavour. In addition, we have no additives! Sterilization is also much more gentle when using Tetra than cans, and thus retains both the taste and the nutrients better.

Tastier food

Coconut milk is a basic ingredient in the Asian pantry, but works just as well instead of milk and cream in other cooking, baking and desserts. Extra good for you who are vegan or lactose intolerant!

Note! Our new packaging contains 250 ml of coconut milk instead of 400 ml. We have updated all our recipes, but if you have your own favorite recipe you may need to recalculate a little.

Right consistence

If you store an unopened packet of coconut milk at room temperature, the consistency should remain even and fine. But if the package has been a bit chilled, the coconut milk can get a thick creamy coconut lid with all liquid in the bottom. Then there is absolutely nothing wrong with the coconut milk, you just need to warm it gently and give it a stir to get an even consistency.

In hot dishes, coconut milk ususally get layered. Just as it should be in real Asian cooking.

Which to choose?

We have four different kinds of coconut milk, that differs in fat and creaminess. Which one you choose, is according to taste, but for some dishes, for example, a thinner coconut milk is better suited. Here you can compare our different varieties, to find the right coconut milk for each dish.

If you get som leftovers

Our new tetra packs contains 250 ml instead of 400 ml. And that is a part of our work to help you reduce food waste at home. But if you still get coconut milk leftovers there are lots of smart and good things to do. Here are some suggestions!
